Got this to save burning down the tent with a gas lantern. Wasn't sure about the ethereal blue light at first but in practice it's bright and very natural and easy to read by etc. Best thing is that the AA batteries last ages - still using the same set well into its second year. Robust and stable and they have redesigned the hanging loop since I got mine (which is an improvement). Pressing the top button switch successively gives on; flash; off. Flash is a bit annoying because you've got to go through this phase to reach "off". For me, doesn't detract from what is an excellent item, though.
