Excellent product June 22, 2009 H. Fox (uk) 27 out of 27 found this review helpful
This worked perfectly and was extremely accurate.
We had recently had our caravan serviced and was told that our caravan was letting in some slight water.
They had done a damp meter test with a high end professional damp meter.
Although we had no doubts about the integrity of the caravan service department, we thought it would be a good idea to have one of our own in order to keep an eye on the situation ourselves after the problem was remedied.
This damp meter was spot on accurate, giving exactly the same results percentage as the service dept.
Highly recommended for those who want professional accuracy at a very low price.
Simple to use and useful August 24, 2009 A. J. HAWKEN (London - UK) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
I bought this dampmeter recently after we had some building work done recently. There was some white stuff on the outside of the new plaster and I suspected that there was some damp because the work hadn't been done properly.
So, to check this out I ordered this dampmeter. It is very light and requires a 9v battery. There are two buttons on the side, one to check that the battery is working and the other to use when you are testing for damp. In this case you just throw the second switch and press the two metal pins on the wall you wish to test. The meter indicates a percentage damp and there are 3 colour-coded regions. Green indicates normal (< 10% to 16%), Yellow indicates attention required (16 - 20%) and red indicates Action required (20-28%).
For the wall I needed to test, most of it was fine, although there was a small patch that was at the top end of the yellow scale. I also used it to test the cellar. There were some damp patches here as well.
This is a very useful tool to have to test the state of your own house, as you can probably find out where the water is coming in. I t is also particularly useful if you are thinking of buying a property, as you can easily test for dampness within a few minutes around all those places where dampness is likely. at under £15 it is reasonably cheap and well worth the money.
RAPITEST-DAMP TEST METER February 8, 2009 Mr. Robert A. Burton 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Excellent product, got this to test 'buy to let' property. Really does the job at a quarter of the cost of a semi pro meter. Made a protective cover from an old MP3 player in case I dropped it.
I would highly recommend this product.

Rapitest - Damp Test Meter
I have recently been house hunting and looking at old cottages. As this type of building is prone to damp problems I took this little instrument with me when viewing properties. It saved money on expensive damp surveys and helped me to decide weather to commit to buy somewhere that would require expensive damp treatment.
So well done Little Damp Meter. 10/10

Whilst it is true that for measuring damp in bricks, concrete, etc. the only accurate method is to drill out a small sample and have it analysed, this little, low priced meter can be a good guide.
We had damp surveys done on a property and were given a quote for quite a considerable amount of work, but it was all very vague. Using the Rapitest we were able to locate the precise areas and rectify the problems - most of which was due to condensation and have now been cleared.
It was also a useful gadget to check over our caravan, but be careful not to be too enthusiastic and penetrate the surfaces with the prongs because it can affect the resale price!
